Schmitt Issues Statement on Retirement of Speaker Turzai
6/10/2020
HARRISBURG –Speaker of the House Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) earlier today announced his retirement from public service. In response, Rep. Lou Schmitt (R-Blair) issued the following statement:

“I have long held the belief that true leaders shine during adversity. Over the course of the past few months as Pennsylvania, and the world, responded to the COVID-19 pandemic, I saw firsthand House Speaker Mike Turzai lead with dignity and confidence. Even during times of trials and tribulation, Mike made sure all members were heard and respected by their peers.

“Mike helped propel Pennsylvania forward through legislative efforts to address various issues. I wish him the best in the next phase of his life.”
