Schmitt Starts Fourth Term Representing the People of the 79th Legislative District
1/7/2025
HARRISBURG – Joined by colleagues of the House of Representatives, Rep. Lou Schmitt (R-Blair) took the oath of office today, officially beginning his fourth term representing residents of the 78th Legislative District. He issued the following statement:

“As in year’s past, the swearing-in ceremony today was a time to renew my commitment to making sure the people of Altoona, Tunnelhill and Logan and Alleghany townships are well represented in the House. They are the folks who sent me to Harrisburg, and for that, I am eternally grateful.

“Residents will continue to be the first people I think about when considering bills. As such, I will continue to stand against unneeded spending increases that would lead to unnecessary tax hikes.

“We enter the 2024-25 session in a razor-thin, one-seat minority. I believe we can work with House Democrats, the Senate and the governor to address issues Pennsylvanians face. As lawmakers, our ultimate goal must always be to leave our great state in a better place than when we were first elected to serve. That is my mission, and I believe it is more than achievable.”
