HARRISBURG – Rep. Lou Schmitt (R-Blair) was appointed to serve in two key committee leadership roles for the 2021-22 session.

Schmitt will lead the Subcommittee on Railroads under the House Transportation Committee and will serve as secretary of the House State Government Committee.

“With the State Government Committee in the midst of a series of hearings to review Pennsylvania’s election process, I look forward to serving as the committee’ secretary,” Schmitt said. “The gravity of these hearings is not lost on me, and I am glad to have a key seat at the table to bring forth the concerns residents of 79th District have.”

Schmitt previously served as chair of the Subcommittee on Railroads. Under his leadership, the House Transportation Committee held a hearing in Altoona to discuss the potential for improving freight and passenger rail service in western Pennsylvania, including Blair County.

During the 2021-22 Legislative Session, Schmitt serves as a member of the Insurance, State Government, Transportation and Urban Affairs committees.
