ALTOONA – Rep. Lou Schmitt (R-Blair) invites residents to his Shredding with Schmitt event to have their important documents shredded for free. The event will be held at People’s Natural Gas Field (Curve Stadium), located at 1000 Park Ave., Altoona, on Wednesday, Oct.13, from 4-7 p.m.
“One of the easiest ways to deter identity theft is to destroy documents that contain important information, such as a person’s full name, address, bank account information and Social Security number,” Schmitt said. “This event provides residents with a means to safely destroy these documents so they don’t fall into the wrong hands.”
Residents are encouraged to bring documents that contain credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, medical information and bank account information to be shredded. Residents are asked to bring papers and documents in loose form. Magazines, books or trash will not be accepted. This is an event for residents only; no businesses, please.
Donations for the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society will be accepted during the event.
