ALTOONA – To help educate senior citizens about scams targeting them, Rep. Lou Schmitt (R-Blair) is teaming up with the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office to hold a Senior Scam Prevention Seminar later this month. The free event starts at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, at Graystone Court, 1101 Flamingo Drive, in Altoona.
“All too often scammers target senior citizens as victims and unfortunately bilk them out of their hard-earned money,” Schmitt said. “This seminar aims to help prevent seniors from becoming victims. I encourage area seniors, as well as their family and caregivers, to attend this free event.”
Topics to be covered include what to do if one becomes a victim of identity theft, tips on how to protect personal information online and in everyday interactions, and guidelines on how to spot scams intended to steal one’s identity.
