ALTOONA – Residents are invited to properly dispose of important documents at the upcoming Shredding with Schmitt event hosted by Rep. Lou Schmitt (R-Altoona). The free event will be held at Peoples Natural Gas Field (Curve Stadium), located at 1000 Park Ave., Altoona, on Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 4-7 p.m.
“This free event is a great public service that gives residents the opportunity to have their documents shredded in an easy manner,” Schmitt said. “Destroying documents that have personal information is a key ingredient in preventing identity theft.”
Attendees are encouraged to bring documents that contain credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, medical information and bank account information to be shredded. Residents are asked to bring papers and documents in loose form. Magazines, books or trash will not be accepted. This is an event for residents only; no businesses, please.
Donations for the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society will be accepted during the event.
